Cookie Policy

Last updated: 08 October 2026

1. Introduction

1.1 This cookie policy (this "Policy") explains how Raffio Limited, a company registered in Scotland (Company Number SC879232) and having its registered office address at 9 Newton Place, Office 1, Glasgow, Scotland, G3 7PR ("Raffio", "we", "us" or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on the Platform, and the choices available to you.

1.2 This Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy, our Terms and Conditions, and our Complaints Policy. Capitalised terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meaning given to them in our Terms and Conditions.

1.3 By using the Platform and, where applicable, providing your consent through our cookie preference centre in the Platform’s footer, you agree to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described in this Policy. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in accordance with clause 6.

2. What are cookies

2.1 Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make websites and applications work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site or application.

2.2 References in this Policy to "cookies" include similar technologies that store or access information on your device, such as pixels, web beacons, and local storage, whether placed by us or by third parties on our behalf.

2.3 Cookies may be "session" cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. Cookies may also be "first party" cookies, set by us, or "third party" cookies, set by a third party whose services we use.

3. The cookies we use

3.1 We use the following categories of cookies on the Platform:

  • (a) Strictly necessary cookies: these are essential for the Platform to function and cannot be switched off. They are used, for example, to keep you logged into your Account, to remember items in your basket during a Paid Entry, to maintain the security of the Platform, and to enable core functionality such as answering the Skill Question and submitting a Paid Entry. This category also includes first-party local storage used to record your cookie preference choice, and, where you are signed in as a Host Partner, local storage is used to prevent accidental duplicate listing submissions and to recover unsaved listing drafts. Strictly necessary cookies and local storage do not require your consent, as they are necessary to provide the service you have requested;
  • (b) Functionality cookies: these allow the Platform to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, more personalised features. On the Platform, this category includes first-party local storage used, for example, to remember: your display theme (your light/dark display preference), your browse layout preference (grid/list presentation), your recently viewed listings (used only to show you your recently viewed content and related on-device suggestions), your category clicks and interactions (used only to reorder on-device suggestions), your recent searches (used only to show recent search shortcuts) and your favourite listings (to synchronise your favourites to your Account). These items are each used solely for that single display/functionality purpose. You can object to, or reset, this use of local storage at any time. You can change your display theme and browse layout preference, and manage your favourites, directly in the Platform, and you can clear your recently viewed history, your recent searches, and your category/personalisation history used for "Suggested for you", using the relevant reset controls in the Platform;
  • (c) Analytics and performance cookies: these help us understand how visitors use the Platform, for example which pages are visited most often and whether users encounter errors, so that we can improve the Platform's performance and design; and
  • (d) Advertising and targeting cookies: these are used to deliver content and advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests, both on the Platform and on third-party websites, and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, including those run through third-party advertising networks, such as Meta.

3.2 When you first visit the Platform, you are shown a choice between "Essential only" and "Accept all". "Accept all" switches on a single “analytics” consent choice, which combines the analytics and performance, and advertising and targeting cookies described in clauses 3.1(c) and 3.1(d). There is currently no separate opt-in for analytics as distinct from advertising. The individual cookies and similar technologies we use, and the purposes for which we use them, are set out in the table below. This table may be updated from time to time to add or remove individual providers within an existing category described in clause 3.1, without updating this Policy or requiring your renewed consent. However, where we add or change a technology in a way that introduces a new type of processing, a new consent requirement, or a materially different use of your data, we will update this Policy more fully and, where required, ask for your renewed consent:

Category

Cookie/Storage Name

Purpose

Duration

Essential

__session; __client; __client_uat (Clerk authentication). Clerk may also use instance-suffixed forms of these cookies and short-lived internal cookies such as __clerk_handshake during authentication flows.

Authentication, session continuity and security of the Platform. These cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off.

__session: 60-second lifetime, automatically refreshed while the session remains active (per Clerk documentation). __client: a long-lived HttpOnly cookie whose expiry is managed by Clerk and the configured Clerk session lifetime/browser limits, rather than by Raffio's application code. __client_uat: Clerk uses a one-year expiry for this value.

Analytics and advertising (consent required)

ph_phc_xDBXu8TTAhCT9nZQXEHjtN2A5oRX8jMe4JHgDTH6YFYh_posthog (first-party cookie and localStorage entry of the same name, set by PostHog)

Product analytics (specific events only). Loaded only after consent. Raffio has disabled PostHog autocapture, automatic pageview tracking, automatic page-leave capture, and PostHog session recording.

The first-party cookie expires after 365 days. The localStorage entry of the same name has no automatic browser expiry and remains until removed or reset, or until browser storage is cleared.

Analytics and advertising (consent required)

Vercel Web Analytics (Vercel) - no cookie is set. Instead, Vercel identifies visitors using an anonymous, request-derived hash that is not stored on your device.

Anonymous page-view and traffic analytics. Rendered only after consent.

Vercel resets/discards its anonymous visitor identifier after 24 hours. No cookie or local storage is used.

Analytics and advertising (consent required)

sentryReplaySession (stored in sessionStorage, not as a cookie, by Sentry Session Replay)

Diagnostic session replay, with all text, inputs and media masked/blocked. Loaded only after consent.

An individual replay has a maximum duration of 60 minutes, recording pauses after 5 minutes of inactivity, and the replay session expires after 15 minutes of inactivity. As this is sessionStorage, the browser-side record does not persist like a cookie and is cleared with the relevant browser/tab session.

Analytics and advertising (consent required)

Meta Pixel cookies set via connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js (Meta Pixel ID 1069613895888463):

_fbp (Meta browser identifier) and, where applicable, _fbc (Meta click identifier, not necessarily created for every visitor and is only created where Meta has a Facebook click identifier associated with the visit).

Advertising and campaign measurement. Restricted to raffio.co.uk and www.raffio.co.uk, and only loads after consent. An already-loaded script cannot be unloaded if consent is later withdrawn.

_fbp: approximately 90 days. _fbc: approximately 90 days where applicable.

Local storage (see clause 2.2)

raffio.cookie-consent.v1 (browser local storage, not a cookie)

Records your cookie preference choice (accepted or essential only) and the date it was made.

No automatic expiry. The record persists until you change your preference, clear your browser storage, or we deliberately version the consent key to require consent again.

4. Third party cookies

4.1 Some cookies and similar technologies on the Platform are placed by third parties, including our analytics and advertising providers. These third parties may use cookies, pixels, local storage or similar technologies to collect information about your use of the Platform and other websites in order to provide analytics services or to deliver and measure advertising, including through advertising networks such as Meta or any other similar networks we may use in the future.

4.2 We do not control how third parties use the information collected by their cookies, and we encourage you to review the relevant third party's own cookie or privacy policy for further information.

4.3 Where a third party's cookies result in your personal data being transferred outside the UK, that transfer will be subject to appropriate safeguards as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Legal basis for using cookies

5.1 We use strictly necessary cookies on the basis that they are essential to provide the Platform and the services you have requested, in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 ("PECR").

5.2 Strictly necessary cookies and local storage do not require your consent under the PECR. Functionality cookies and local storage used solely for a single display or functionality purpose (as described in clause 3.1(b)), do not require your consent under PECR. We only use the analytics and performance, and advertising and targeting cookies described in clauses 3.1(c) and 3.1(d) where you have given your consent, in accordance with the PECR. Where our use of the personal data collected through these cookies also constitutes processing of personal data under the UK GDPR, we rely on your consent as the lawful basis for that processing, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. How to manage your cookie preferences

6.1 When you first visit the Platform, you will be shown a cookie banner allowing you to choose between "Essential only" and "Accept all" for the combined analytics and performance, and advertising and targeting categories described in clauses 3.1(c) and 3.1(d). You can reopen this same choice and either change your cookie preferences or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie preferences control in the Platform's footer.

6.2 You can also manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to see what cookies are on your device and to delete them individually, block cookies from particular or all websites, or block all cookies. Please note that if you block or delete cookies, some parts of the Platform may not function properly, and you may not be able to submit a Paid Entry or access certain features. If you do not wish to accept any cookies, or wish to enter a Draw without cookies being placed on your device at all, you can use our Free Postal Entry route in accordance with clause 5 of our Terms and Conditions, which does not require use of the Platform or any cookies.

6.3 Further information on how to manage cookies in commonly used browsers is available on the relevant browser provider's website.

7. Complaints

7.1 If you are dissatisfied with the use of your cookies, you may raise a formal complaint by contacting us using the details in clause 9 and marking your correspondence "Formal Complaint."

7.2 Formal complaints are handled in accordance with our Complaints Policy, which can be found here.

7.3 Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights or your right to bring proceedings before a court of competent jurisdiction.

8. Changes to this Policy

8.1 We may update this Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in applicable law. Any changes will be published on the Platform with an updated "Last updated" date, and where the changes are material, we will ask you to review your cookie preferences again.
